Phlebotomy Certificate Program Certificate

Our Phlebotomy Certificate Program, originally designed in partnership with TriCore Reference Laboratories, prepares individuals to enter into the medical profession as a phlebotomist. Students complete 60 hours of theory, lecture and review, 60 hours of lab, 36 hours of Work Skills in the Workplace. In addition, students will complete a 100-hour clinical experience at a local clinical site.

Student Application Career Readiness Certificate

 

PhlebotomyOur Phlebotomy Certificate Program prepares individuals to enter into the medical profession as a phlebotomist. This nine-week training prepares students for this entry level career in the demanding healthcare field. In course 38205, students complete 60 hours of theory, lecture and review, 60 hours of lab and a 100-hour clinical experience at a local clinical site.

Maximize the advantage of your skills, attitude and preparation with your Work Skills (23105) Career Coach who provides 36 hours of insight into workplace demands, successful interview techniques and strategies to assess your strengths and develop a plan to meet your career goals.

Discover Phlebotomy (38204) is your chance to learn if this medical career is for you and what is necessary for national certification through the American Society for Clinical Pathology's Certified Phlebotomy Technician (ASCP PBT). To apply, prospective students will need to verify all prerequisites. The deadline to apply for the summer certificate program is May 15. Register for 38204 and receive a 10% discount off the tuition of Phlebotomy Essentials, Laboratory and Clinical Experience (38205) for the certificate program.

Students must be at least 18 years of age, possess a high-school diploma or GED, be willing to complete a background check and verify completion of the Gold Career Readiness Certificate (download the FAQ from http://dce.unm.edu/phlebotomy-2.htm). Students need to be current on immunizations that are required for working in the field; it is recommended that students also have current health insurance.
