Grief and Loss: A Changing Perspective

Dennis Holland, PhD, will provide an overview of personal grief and how we all naturally respond to the grief process. The impact of changing social views of grief and the impact on individuals will be covered. Topics include: While most people manage the grief process on their own, sometimes "complicated grief" can overwhelm the natural process requiring assistance.

 How individuals can best support others going through the grief process.

 Challenging the myths and misinformation of grief. Risks of unresolved grief: comorbid depression, sleep disorders and other health risks.

Moms and Daughters in Partnership Conference

Moms and Daughters in Partnership Conference

Join us for this fun, one-day event just for girls ages 10-13 and their mothers, grandmothers or other special women in their lives. Girls will learn how to handle peer pressure, self-defense techniques, yoga, and belly dancing. Mothers will join girls for some activities and participate in discussions on how to support tweens and teens as they deal with social challenges, media images, cyberbullying and more. In addition to time together, mothers and daughters will enjoy a buffet lunch and some fun mother-daughter pampering. This event is a gift for all girls entering or soon-to enter middle school!

Located in the heart of the Mediterranean, Sicily has seen it all: Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans, Byzantines , Arabs and Normans. Successive waves of settlers and conquerors left a remarkably rich architectural heritage. This lecture will offer an illustrated outline of Sicily’s history and architecture up to the 12th Century.
