Early Childhood Services Center
NMKids CCR&R (NewMexicoKids Child Care Resource and Referral)
The Early Childhood Services Center (ECSC) is a component part of the Division of Continuing Education and Community Services. Funded by the State of New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department (CYFD) and the Public Education Department, the Early Childhood Services Center provides the following services on behalf of the children of New Mexico.
With the start of the 2005-2006 fiscal year, the State of New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department, Office of Child Development, made the decision to create a centralized Child Care Resource and Referral system. The University of New Mexico’s Division of Continuing Education was awarded the grant and has been administering the state-wide CCR&R program since its inception. NewMexicoKids Child Care Resource & Referral Program maintains a statewide database of child care providers that are licensed or registered by recognized regulatory agencies in the state of New Mexico. This database is used to provide courtesy referrals to anyone who requests them at no cost to either child care providers or referral clients. Child care providers share specific information that helps tailor the match to the provider and meet the needs of the children. Child care providers and their information appear on this list on a voluntary basis.
NM Kids PreK Database Support
Since 2006, the goal of the New Mexico PreK Initiative is to provide every four-year old the opportunity to attend a high quality PreK program. NMKids Information Technology staff continue to develop, support and maintain the NM PreK website and databases.
NM Kids Home Visiting Project Database
The statewide Home Visiting Program is a service through which parents and children are visited by trained personnel who offer a combination of information, support, or training regarding child health, safety, development, and care. We support the CYFD Home Visiting Program by providing database management training and program evaluation.
In 2004, the NewMexicoKids Network was created with one employee coordinating a statewide professional network among New Mexico's eight Early Childhood Training and Technical Assistance Programs (TTAPs), NewMexicoKids Child Care Resource and Referral, and the NewMexicoKids.org website to help every local community more effectively address its early care and education issues and services. In July 2009, the Network Office found a new home with UNM Continuing Education, Early Childhood Services Center.
