38687 Injury Prevention
This course will provide students with a foundation in the field of injury prevention. Injury occurrence and prevention will be examined and discussed using a conceptual framework that includes individual behavior, as well as socio-cultural, economic, and policy influences. Instructors will apply concepts and share practical experiences to demonstrate the injury prevention field's core competencies: intentional and unintentional injury topics such as motor vehicle injury, falls, suicide, and poisoning (e.g.; accidental drug overdose) will be discussed on the local to global levels. Classroom learning experiences will emphasize a comprehensive approach to injury prevention and evidence-based prevention strategies in order to meet the foundational education requirement for the Injury and Violence Prevention Specialist certification.
Note: UNM Tuition Remission Eligible. This class meets every other week.

39310 LADAC Exam Preparation
Review the content for the CADAC and LADAC exams, and be ready for test day! This class provides exam content outlines and review four content sections, including counseling practices and skills (12 core functions), theoretical basis of counseling, professional considerations (cultural competency and ethics) and pharmacology. A Student Study Guide is included in the cost of tuition, with emphasis given to independent test preparation.

38755 Case Management Lunch and Learn Workshop
This Lunch and Learning workshop will serve as a foundation for developing and/or enhancing the competencies and skills needed for effective and professional case management. Topics include the five components of case management, the principles of case management, the roles of the case manager, recommended ethical practices, community resources, effective communication and problem solving. Lunch is provided.

Prevention and Education for Injury, Violence and Substance Abuse

Certification as a prevention specialist through the NM Credentialing Board of Behavioral Health Professions is a field with the potential to save lives.
