Emergency Medical Services Academy (EMSA)

EMSA’s in-house (Albuquerque area) EMTBasic, EMT-Intermediate, CPR, AED and first-aid, child babysitting classes (CABS) are housed at UNM Continuing Education in the Business and Technology (B&T) Programs . This new partnership is a win-win. UNM Continuing Education excels at bringing programs to the community that will be more available, accessible and customer friendly. Students will continue to benefit from expanded access to EMSA’s topquality educators and didactic programs. We’re improving our service and quality, beginning with inclusive tuition that combines all books, materials, and expenses into one tuition package, delivered at one convenient location.

EMSA’s EMT-I classes are held by EMSA, but managed by UNM Continuing Education. You may register online or by calling (505) 277-0077. Administrative Medical Specialist Certificate

If you're fascinated by the health care industry, but not interested in direct patient care, learn the necessary skills to enter or advance in the world of hospitals , clinics, or physician's offices through employment in medical records departments or business offices.

Coding coursework includes the basic, intermediate, and advanced levels necessary to compete in the Health Information Technology workforce. Course 38104, Medical Terminology and Human Anatomy, is prerequisite for this certificate—however, students who have successfully completed a medical terminology and human anatomy class at another educational institution may contact the program supervisor to validate completion and to arrange to test-out of the class. Make an appointment with the program supervisor for advisement.
