Get professional hands-on training in digital videography from our experienced filmmaking instructors and join the crew, or acquire the skills needed for your own independent film project. Beginners and experienced filmmakers alike are welcome.

Note: All digital videography classes are taught in a classroom and not in a computer lab. Computer experience is helpful but not required.

55942 Community Media Studio Production
Crew a live and pre-recorded studio television production at the Quote-Unquote, Inc. Community Media Center studios. Learn to operate Sony studio cameras, and overhead grid lighting; use a character generator to create titles and credits; operate state-of-the-art video switchers for basic studio and high-end green screen productions; use audio equipment including Mackie audio boards, lavalier, shotgun and handheld mics; as well as multiple decks, monitors and live studio call-in capabilities. Your live studio production will air on Comcast Cable TV Channel 27. Notes: Registration includes one year annual membership to equipment and facilities use at Quote-Unquote, Inc. for public access programming. This class has a seven-day advance notice cancellation policy. Prerequisite: Attend a one-hour orientation at Quote-Unquote Media Center.
Note: This class meets at Quote-Unquote, Inc. Required orientation meets on Wed, Jun 13, 7-8pm. UNM Tuition Remission eligible.

Develop your technical and creative skills as a digital videographer. Learn how to achieve satisfying and professional-looking footage using your own digital video camera. Implement some basic skills and shooting techniques. Topics include the DV format, video camera capabilities, features and operation, camera control, movement and composition, types of shots that make up a scene, sound, light, and how to shoot with editing in mind. Class includes hands-on demonstrations and video exercises. Prerequisite: Working knowledge of your digital video camera; must have a digital video camera (any type).
