film reelThis hands-on action-packed course gives participants the feeling of what it’s like to work on an actual film
or television production. In this follow-up to Cinematography Basics: Lights, Camera, Action!, students
participate in realistic production scenarios in a working motion picture studio. Production simulations include lighting and shooting dolly and jib shots, multicamera entertainment, and “poor man’s process” or creating the illusion of a moving vehicle inside the controlled environment of a film studio. Prerequisite: 55931 or 23473.

Note: Class meets at Rio Grande Studios. A $75 studio

Held in a working motion picture studio located right in the heart of Albuquerque, this class presents a number of realistic production simulations that give students the feeling of what it’s like to work on a feature film or television program. Participants receive insights into the features of the latest camcorders and location sound equipment as they learn the roles and responsibilities of professional film technicians. Prerequisite: None. A $75 studio fee will be collected the first day of class, payable to the instructor.

Design Sustainable

computer grassExplore the relationships between nature’s patterns and shapes and effectively designed visual communications. We will deconstruct the underlying principles of successful visual communications and how they relate to the natural world with exercises and experiments to increase the student’s facility with more effective and aesthetic design. The student will apply what they learn to a personal design project that develops skills in self-expression, design aesthetics and understanding principles of nature’s process. A field trip and guest demonstrations by designers and artists are included. Equipment and materials cost about $25. A materials list wil be available the first day of class. Prerequisite: 55101. This two-day, hands-on course introduces students to the primary feature set and basic interface of Final Cut Pro. In this course, you’ll learn to perform basic editing functions while familiarizing yourself with the user interface. Topics include basic setup, adjusting and customizing preferences and settings, capturing video and audio, various editing and trimming techniques, Ripple, Roll, Slip and Slide tools, audio editing and audio creation, finishing and final output. Prerequisite: Basic knowledge of Mac OS X.
Recommended: Basic knowledge of editing terminology.
Note: This is an AATC course.
