Lisa Tannenbaum, an instructor for UNM Continuing Education and award winning digital photographer, will be one of two judges for The Face of Albuquerque Photo Competition. Joining her as judge is Marc Gutierrez another local photographer. Both judges are active participants in the Flickr photography community (see fotofreak and taylorkoa22). Lisa teaches numerous digital photography classes, as well as Photoshop and other classes. Click here for Lisa’s bio.
The winners will have their work displayed on new ClearChannel digital Billboards around Albuquerque between November 12 and December 2nd. Marc Gutierrez and Lisa Tannenbaum are working with ClearChannel to select approximately 40 photos for the exhibit. Entries are due November 1st! (see below for details). Thanks Lisa and Marc for showcasing our local talent!
The Face of Albuquerque: Call for Entries
ClearChannel will be introducing seven new digital billboards into the Albuquerque area market in midNovember. The billboards utilize LED technology and their messages rotate every 8 seconds. As part of a testing period scheduled to run through December 2, 2007, they have agreed to display an exhibit of local photographers’ work on those billboards; the show will be titled, “The Face of Albuquerque.” Marc Gutierrez and Lisa Tannenbaum are working with ClearChannel to select approximately 40 photos for the exhibit.
Learn about the contest:
We are looking for outstanding photos that are representative of Albuquerque. Examples of the type of photography we are looking for are: roasting green chile; scenes including the Sandias and/or the Rio Grande; Old Town shots, etc. By no means should you limit yourself to only those ideas however – if you have a great photo that represents Albuquerque in some way, we hope you’ll submit it. (Please be aware that, if you choose to submit a photo with an identifiable person or people in it, you must also fax a model release to 505-345-2668, attn: Leon Trujillo.)
This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase our community’s photographic talent! ClearChannel is donating the billboard space, and Marc and Lisa are donating their time. ClearChannel has agreed to use the photos only for the purpose of the exhibit, and to use your contact info solely to administer the display. A credit to the photographer will be superimposed over each photo, along the bottom. (Credits will read: © by Jane Doe, with photographers’ first and last names in the place of “Jane Doe.”)
Time is of the essence, however. All submissions must be received no later than 5:00pm MDT on Thursday, November 1, 2007. Photographers will be notified only if their work has been selected to appear on the billboards. We anticipate notification will take place on or around November 9, 2007, via email.
Here are the rules:
1) Photos must be submitted in JPG format at a size of exactly 760 pixels wide by 366 pixels high. The resolution must be 300 pixels per inch, and the color mode must be RGB. We encourage you to submit the highest quality JPG possible; however, the file size of each photo may not be higher than 300 KB.
2) Each photographer may submit up to two (2) photos. If you submit more than two, all of your submissions will be disqualified.
3) Photographers whose work is chosen for the exhibit agree to provide a highquality JPG, TIF, or PSD file to us, with dimensions of exactly 432 pixels wide by 208 pixels high, no later than November 10, 2007. If your work is chosen, and you are unable to submit the final file to us by November 10, your photo will be disqualified.
4) By submitting photos to the below email address, you warrant that you are both the photographer and sole copyright holder of the images. In addition, you give ClearChannel a nonexclusive license to display your photo on any or all of the seven new digital billboards from November 12, 2007, through December 2, 2007. You agree that you understand you will receive no financial remuneration whatsoever for the display of your work on said billboards.
To submit:
· Send only one photo per email to TheFaceofAbq@gmail.com. Remember, two submissions are the maximum allowed.
· Include your full name, your email address, and your phone number with each submission. Make sure you’ve spelled everything accurately; if we’re unable to contact you, your submission will be disqualified.
· Include the title of the photo, and the filename of the photo.
· Do not include a signature, logo, watermark, or any other identifying mark on the photo.
· Make sure you attach the photo. ![]()
· Please understand that we are putting this exhibit together on very short notice. Therefore, we won’t be able to confirm your submission(s), answer questions about the type of photography we’re looking for (or anything else), and/or notify you of our decisions unless your work has been selected for the display.
· And… please don’t send your photos directly to either Marc or Lisa, as this means we’ll have to recuse ourselves from the jurying process (Leon Trujillo, from ClearChannel, will be keeping all entries blind to us).
· Finally, please feel free to pass this email along to any Albuquerque area photographer whom you think might be interested.
Thank you for your interest – here’s hoping we’ll be seeing your work on a billboard soon!
