The AdobeQuerque Community Expert instructors for the Expert Series are: Becky Padilla, Damian Taggart, Virgina DeBolt, Jason Nakai, Elaine Montoya and Laura Gutman.

A groundbreaking upgrade in software

Adobe Creative Suite 3 is a revolutionary upgrade resulting from Adobe’s recent merger with Macromedia, the other giant digital media company. The upgrade was intended to combine the products from each company, keeping the best of both worlds. The blending of programs will make the workflow much easier than it used to be. It is now very easy to go from Photoshop to Flash to After Effects, for example. The interface is the same from one application to another — consistent and recognizable.

Examples of the software improvements are:

Photoshop
Photoshop, the one program that is central to all areas of Digital Arts, now has two versions in CS3. Photoshop Standard is the same reliable Photoshop. Photoshop Extended has new tools that allow you to edit content for film, video, multimedia, 3D graphics, and medical and scientific professional work.

Photoshop CS3 now also has Smart Filters and a flexible workspace that allows you to make the Palettes as small as icons or larger than your screen

Flash ActionScript 3
Flash ActionScript 3 forces you to write better code. It has a new way of interacting with XML that is more consistent.

Device Central
Adobe Device Central streamlines transferring data to your mobile devices by eliminating steps. It also allows you to create video, motion graphics, and 3D graphics on your mobile device.
