Free Information Session

UNM Continuing Education is holding a free information session on the Executive Certificate in Financial Planning Tuesday, November 6 from 5:30 pm to 7 pm at Continuing Education South 1634 University Blvd. This nine-month certificate program will prepare those looking for a lucrative new position or consulting opportunities in the financial industry . It will also give you the expertise you need to sit in on the CFP national exam. Classes will start in February 2009.

Using Myers Briggs in the Workplace

Jemez San Diego Feast Day [00343]
The Pueblo of Jemez, one of 19 Native American Pueblos in New Mexico, is home to approximately 2,700 people, nearly all of whom are Jemez tribal members and speak the Towa language. On this special day you will enjoy the food and dances of the Jemez Pueblo.

A Day with your Daughter

Moms & Daughters in Partnership:
An event for moms and their daughters ages 10-13

UNM Continuing Education is offering a fun, one-day event just for girls ages 10-13 and their mothers, grandmothers or other special women in their lives on Saturday, October 25 from 9 am - 3:30 pm at the University of New Mexico Student Union Building.

Throughout the different event session’s girls will learn how to handle peer pressure, self-defense techniques, yoga, and belly dancing. Mothers will join girls for some activities and participate in discussions on how to support tweens and teens as they deal with social challenges, media images, cyberbullying and more. In addition to time together, mothers and daughters will enjoy a buffet lunch and some fun mother-daughter pampering.

Mothers and daughters interested in this event can register online here. The registration cost of $42 per person includes the buffet lunch.

Develop Effective Manuals

Enroll in course Developing Training Materials, #23012 starting on October 8, 2008. The cost is only $349. Use instructional system design principles to develop effective training materials, including manuals, job aids, and web-based training materials. Learn about information mapping and other formatting strategies to develop eye-catching resources. Understand the importance of using clear and concise wording and proper sequencing. Discuss the importance of working with subject matter experts and customers to help develop the content of your training materials. Prerequisites: 23000 and 23003. The instructor is Barbara Ibanez, MA.

Become a Spring Break Camp Counselor

UNM Continuing Education is hiring elementary educators for the youth Spring Break camp program. Here’s how you can become a camp counselor…

Description:

  • Facilitate half-day Spring Break camp for kids ages 6-9 or 10-13.
  • Camp runs from Monday, March 23-Friday, March 28, 2009.
  • Morning and Afternoon positions are available.   
  • Class size between 10- 22.
  • Camp will take place at UNM Continuing Education North Building at 1634 University Blvd in Albuquerque and may include fieldtrips.
  • Assistants will be hired for classes at the discretion of the program supervisor.
  • The camps are hands-on and feature multidisciplinary explorations and guest educators. 
  • The camp will culminate in a “Creativity Convention” on Friday, March 28.

Qualifications:  Experience teaching elementary youth or running youth programs, facilitating hands-on activities with target age groups.

Attributes: Educators who enjoy hands-on activities and multi-disciplinary explorations.  Creative, positive and enthusiastic educators. Background with topic matter appreciated.

Stipend: $350 per camp (15 contact hours).
