Fall registration began Monday, July 21!

Fall registration has begun! Register early - popular classes fill fast.

In addition to the availability of our complete roster of accessible, affordable education, there are some great developments this semester:

The Digital Arts Program is going strong! The Program offers new certificates in Animation and Game Design. The focus is on animation this semester! Remember, students may earn their own Apple Certifications. Also, the Expert Series returns to cover some of the great features of Adobe CS3.

In the Story of New Mexico, a field trip that offers a bicultural learning experience in Mexico to learn Spanish returns by popular demand. Also, we offer a trip to Copper Canyon! Story brings a full roster of fantastic field trips to explore the Land of Enchantment, as well as two intriguing Lecture Series!

Free your mind and your creativity! There’s many exciting new Art classes to inspire you, as well as new ideas in Communications, Humanities, languages, yoga and more! Updates on our new classes are found throughout the Personal Enrichment pages. Or, you can visit them all at once at our guide page for the new classes in Personal Enrichment.

Classes are ongoing throughout the year. There are always late-breaking classes from the previous semester available for registration before the new semester begins, so you may just be able to get into the course you want sooner than you think. Review our current courses here.

Bandelier is a different world when night falls

Join the Story of New Mexico for an “insider’s experience.” Coming soon:

Night Walk at Bandelier National Monument
We’ll travel through the beautiful Jemez and the Valle Caldera on our way to Bandelier National Monument. Lunch at Los Ojos in Jemez Springs. We’ll enjoy a self-guided tour through Bandelier. Then in the evening, when darkness falls, a silent ranger-led nighttime walk through Frijoles Canyon. Poetry, stories, and the darkness and quiet will evoke the feeling of what the canyon might have been like when the Ancestral Pueblo people lived there.

Join us for some great field trips in August with the Story of New Mexico:

Vintage Santa Fe
Join experienced vintage shopper Sharon Niederman for a day of treasure hunting among Santa Fe’s most interesting second-hand shops. Sharon is an author with many published books about the Southwest to her credit, and is a popular guide of many Story field trips.

But shoppers, this isn’t just about bargain hunting. We will look at the history of the world-famous “Santa Fe style” of dress to observe the distinctive, timeless style, and the textiles and designs that express the multilayered cultural heritage of New Mexico. Lunch at the Guadalupe Café. Fee includes travel and tour guide.

Ghosts, Mysteries and Legends of Santa Fe
Not only is our tour guide, Stephanie Beninato, a long-term resident, but she has lived in two haunted houses. Hear about the ever-present personalities behind the walls of both public and private buildings in Santa Fe. Learn where you too might meet a ghost. Even if you are a nonbeliever, have fun learning about the legends. Fee includes travel and tour.

Kukulcan: A learning community

Learn Spanish during a 2 week bicultural immersion field trip in México! Speak in Spanish for real life situations and converse with native speakers, and learn Spanish while enjoying México’s natural beauty and rich cultural background.

Kukulcan, an educational community near Cuernavaca, México, provides a supportive bicultural experience for students of Spanish. History, literature, music, traditional medicine and film courses are taught in English. Students enjoy the arts and crafts of México and fun bicultural experiences such as folkloric dance and Latin American popular and folk songs.

Kukulcan features wireless internet, a cooking lab, beautiful gardens and swimming pools - and more! Students stay with a Mexican family and become part of their lives, or for an additional fee for meals, stay in the Residence Halls.

Free Event - Certified Financial Planning Information Session

UNM Continuing is hosting a free information session on our Certified Financial Planning certification program. Participants will learn how an accelerated 9-month course in Certified Financial Planning can give them the expertise needed to sit for the CFP national exam. (For professionals in the financial industry or career changers looking for a lucrative new position or consulting opportunity.)
