Kudos to the photographer

class photography by Christian Horstmann

Click the image to see a larger version.

The blog headers have been updated with a new look! Our current logo treatment was designed by Deborah Kastman, Senior Graphic Designer with the UNM Continuing Education Marketing Department.

The backgrounds on the headers are details from the photography of Christian Horstmann, also with the UNM Continuing Education Marketing Department. Christian conducts the instructor interviews and photo shoots for promotion and advertising of our Programs with talent and energy. His work includes writing all of the instructor biographies for the course catalog. His photography is of such a consistently high standard that it is used by marketing interchangeably with stock photography from our subscription services. In general, for any subject that is specifically related to UNM Continuing Education — that is Christian’s work!

class photography by Christian Horstmann

Christian immerses himself in his work
to get the shot.

Christian has a gift for striking composition, compelling details, and for capturing “the psychological moment” in his photography. The colorful nature of our Personal Enrichment course topics especially lends itself to some lovely images.

A couple of nice photo essays
are found on these pages:

Physician, teacher, fly fisherman
Tickets punched for success in kickboxing
Life is a dance
Kayaking
Sewing creates endless possibilities
Artist, educator, conservationist
Cooking with confidence

You may see more of Christian’s photography by checking out more of our instructor interviews from the guide page.

The web pages are a collaborative effort with the Marketing Department’s web designer, Sharon Steely, who chooses the photos and composes the pages and story from Christian’s notes and writeups, sometimes supplementing the essay with additional research and photo-editing. “Real estate” costs less on the web than in print, so many more of the rich details from the interviews may sometimes be included.
