Indulge in the healing natural geothermal waters of Ojo Caliente Hot Springs in the heart of northern New Mexico in a variety of pools, both indoor and outdoor, of different temperatures and mineral composition, for a day of splendid relaxation. If you like, relax on the porch of the old lodge or hike the area’s trails. Fee includes travel and 7 mineral pools and steams and saunas at the facility. Extras may be purchased.
The Bishop’s Lodge, just outside of Santa Fe, is one of the National Trust Historic Hotels of America. It is a living reminder of nearly four centuries of Spanish, Native American and Southwestern cultures, and began as a private retreat for the city’s first archbishop, the iconic Bishop Lamy. Our guide, Dr. Robert Gish, author, Erna Fergusson Distinguished Alumnus of the University of NM, compares the two seminal accounts of Bishop Lamy, one the novel, Death Comes to the Archbishop, by Willa Cather, the other the profile by Robert Horgan. Fee includes lunch, guide and travel.
Charlie Carrillo has graciously allowed us to visit his home studio. We’ll see first hand where he and his wife Debbie do their beautiful work, and he is willing to answer any questions we may have about santos, santeros, and spirituality in Northern New Mexico. Space is limited. Fee includes guide, travel and lunch. The afternoon activity is a mystery!
The Horse Shelter is home to horses that have been rescued from abuse and neglect. They love visitors and attention and are willing models. You will have the opportunity to photograph both group and individual portraits. You do not have to be a photographer to participate. Feel free to bring a sketchbook or simply enjoy and interact with the horses in this beautiful setting. Fee includes travel and instruction in photographing animals.
