Ayurveda arrives at UNM Continuing Education!

Ayurveda - “the science of life” - considers that the human body, when healthy, is in harmony, self-perpetuating and self-correcting, just as the universe is. It is the oldest of all medical sciences, with Ayurvedic classic texts originating in India at least 3500 to 5000 years ago. Like yoga, Ayurveda is derived from ancient sanskrit roots. The central goal of Ayurveda is nothing less than a state of perfect health.

Albuquerque is fortunate to host one of the leading Ayurvedic schools outside of India, The Ayurvedic institute, founded by Dr. Vasant Lad in 1984. Dr. Vasant Lad, BAMS, MASc, is a world-renowned Ayurvedic Physician from India with more than 39 years of Indian medicine clinical experience. Dr. Lad wrote the best-selling book, Ayurveda: The Science of Self Healing, and other works illuminating principles and techniques of “the mother of all the healing arts.”

Ayurveda comes to UNM Continuing Education!
Sonia Elisa Masocco, an instructor with The Ayurvedic Institute, offers a new course that starts soon: Ayurveda, An Integrated Approach to Wellness.

Sonia is an ITEC qualified practitioner in Aromatherapy, Reflexology and Massage Therapy, with study and practice in Clinical Aromatherapy and Herbology. She completed the Ayurvedic Studies Program and participated in the Gurukula program in Pune, India. Her clinical experience includes private practice in Hong Kong and Albuquerque, and instruction and intensives with The Ayurvedic Institute. Students benefit from her experience as well as her passion for plants and plant medicine as a vibratory vehicle for transformation.

Sonia’s new class brings all of the benefits of her experience with the science of Ayurveda to UNM Continuing Education students.

Please join us for: Ayurveda, An Integrated Approach to Wellness
4 Saturday mornings, 9 am - 1 pm, November 3 - December 8

This class helps participants to understand the many internal and external factors that may weigh on a person to disturb our balance. Examples include emotional states, diet and food choices, seasons and weather, physical trauma, and relationships, both at home and at work. Following Ayurveda’s focus on achieving wellness through prevention and balance, the class will define appropriate actions, based on individual student personalities and constitutions, to restore balance. The class will benefit health care professionals and care givers, as well as individuals interested in facilitating their own health.

Now enrolling. Register online here or register for course # 38281 FQA when registering in other ways. Call Registration at 277-0077.
