Continuing Education Awarded for Excellence in Community Service and e-Marketing

Continuing Education at The University of New Mexico has been honored for excellence by the Learning Resources Network (LERN), an international association in lifelong learning. The LERN members offer hundreds of exemplary programs annually, as well as exceptional ideas for marketing, community service, and brochure and web page design. The University of New Mexico is being recognized for Community Service. The New Mexico Kids Project created a website and database resource and statewide referral system for child care. The system helps families find the care they need, in a convenient and cost-efficient way.

Continuing Education at The University of New Mexico was also awarded for excellence in e-Marketing. The University of New Mexico is being recognized for exceptional electronic marketing strategies and programs for Continuing Education. The e-Marketing promotions have resulted in more targeted and timely messages, increased participation, and reduced costs for the program.

Both submissions were sent by Dr. Rita Martinez-Purson, Dean of Continuing Education at UNM.

Hands-on How To: repair, buy or sell cars

Take matters into your own hands with our “hands-on” classes!

Another great instructor: Daniel King

With over 30 years experience in auto repair, Dan has an ASE Certification as a Master Mechanic and a degree in Mechanical Engineering. It all started when his mother gave him an old truck when he was 15, and told him, “You can drive it when it runs.” Much to her surprise and chagrin, Dan had it running in short order.

Dan has been teaching with Continuing Education for over 10 years, and he says of his classes: “People get so happy when they realize they can fix the problems on their cars! Some basic knowledge empowers them to make good decisions.” Dan teaches practical, straight forward repairs, taught by example on student’s own cars.
