Introduction to Photojournalism

Get an introduction to the many aspects of photojournalism in the digital era. Photojournalists create images ranging from those that represent hard and fast news (wrecks/fires/natural disasters) to long-term documentary projects.

Explore the various aspects of photojournalism including dealing with clients and editors, law enforcement, changing technology, ethics, and deadlines.

Prerequisite: Photography with a Digital Camera (55801) or equivalent experience; must have a camera with manual capabilities.
Suggested: Photography with a Digital Camera II (55821).

About instructor Pat Berrett:
Pat Berrett earned his MBA from The University of New Mexico. Pat has worked in commercial photography in Albuquerque since 1980. He has worked with many clients in high tech industries as well as arts and crafts, including Honeywell, General Electric, Magnifico, and the New Mexico Arts and Crafts Fair.

This semester, Pat also teaches: Working with Commercial Photography, Professional Lighting Techniques for Digital Photography, and Photographing People in Digital.
