Early Child Care Certificate - training starts soon!

45-hour Entry Level Course

New! Our Early Child Care Certification course is based on the curriculum developed by the State of New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department (CYFD) and prepares individuals to break into the Child Care Profession at an entry level.

Students complete 35 hours of theory, lecture and review, and will complete a 10 hour field observation experience at a local child care facility. Training will include the seven required competencies and fulfills the Minimum Early Childhood Education (ECE) Pre-Service Qualifications set by The National Child Care Information Center.

Learn more about the instructor for this course, Julianna Martinez:

Julianna Martinez has a Bachelor of Arts in Home Economics / Vocational Home Economics from the University of New Mexico. She also holds Level Two Professional Licensures for Early Childhood, Birth - Grade 3 and for Secondary Teaching, Grades 7 - 12, with an endorsement in Family and Consumer Science from the New Mexico Public Education Department. Julianna’s professional memberships include the New Mexico Association for the Education of Young Children (NMAEYC), the New Mexico Association of Educational Retirees, and the Disabled American Veterans Woman’s Auxiliary.

Julianna is a 45-Hour Course Facilitator certified by the New Mexico Children, Youth & Families Department. Her teaching experience includes the Albuquerque Job Corps Center, New Futures High School, and APS Transition Services.

Julianna is also bilingual in Spanish. She boasts a family of four mostly grown daughters, eight grandchildren, and four great grandchildren who also continue to teach her much and who have added to her teaching repertoire. Julianna says that “[her] work with young people through the years has brought [her] joy and fulfillment.” Julianna says that she has learned, and continues to learn, much from her students and strives to share what she learns in her teaching.
