Birding with a Biologist

Learn to identify the
Birds of New Mexico

with instructor Steve Cox

This fun course includes three half-day Saturday field trips to practice bird identification with the instructor. First, you’ll prepare for these field trips with informative lectures and color slides for a full course in learning to recognize and identify New Mexico birds, including local changes with the seasons.

Steve Cox, a lifelong devotee of New Mexico birdlife, has taught UNM Continuing Education students since 1987. Steve is a self employed biologist who has provided biological services for environmental assessments and monitoring of species of concern. He is also the President of Rio Grande Bird Research, Inc., a non-profit group.

Binoculars are highly recommended. Required text: Field Guide to the Birds of North America, National Geographic Society.
