Ayurveda - “the science of life” - considers that the human body, when healthy, is in harmony, self-perpetuating and self-correcting, just as the universe is. It is the oldest of all medical sciences, with Ayurvedic classic texts originating in India at least 3500 to 5000 years ago. Like yoga, Ayurveda is derived from ancient sanskrit roots. The central goal of Ayurveda is nothing less than a state of perfect health.
Albuquerque is fortunate to host one of the leading Ayurvedic schools outside of India, The Ayurvedic institute, founded by Dr. Vasant Lad in 1984. Dr. Vasant Lad, BAMS, MASc, is a world-renowned Ayurvedic Physician from India with more than 39 years of Indian medicine clinical experience. Dr. Lad wrote the best-selling book, Ayurveda: The Science of Self Healing, and other works illuminating principles and techniques of “the mother of all the healing arts.”
