Over 50 artists open their studios the first weekend in November in this charming village on the banks of the Embudo River below Taos. Handmade works in clay, fiber, textiles and fine art as well as herbal products and edibles abound, making this an excellent place to shop for holiday gifts you can’t find in the mall. Dixon is known for its creative, architecturally-unique homes as well as its community of working artists. It also has the largest population of organic farmers in the state — and artists use the produce grown here to create wondeful soaps and even sculptures! Fee includes tour guide and travel.
