Developing local “above-the-line” talent is a priority of the governor’s office and the New Mexico Film Commission because it’s important to the future growth of the state’s successful incentive program for the local filmmaking industry. Above-the-line refers to the creative team: producers, directors, writers, and actors.
“It’s time for the state to start nurturing its own above-the-line talent,” says Lisa Strout, New Mexico Film Office director. “We need to start with our stories, we need to find our writers.”
That’s where Continuing Education’s groundbreaking On Camera! program comes in. In these courses, active professionals from the filmmaking industry teach practical skills in workshop settings. You can join the growing New Mexico film industry by learning how to offer a compelling story, create the right look with make-up and costuming, or produce and direct the story on the big screen.
