We’re proud to announce the first recipients of our “Instructor of the Year” awards. The nominees are proposed by our students, so this is an exciting honor for our two Instructors:
Maria Nilsson-Whitaker
Maria has taught with our Personal Enrichment Program since 1990. A graduate of the University of New Mexico in 1987, she teaches Spanish to our students at all levels of competency. In addition to her skills in Spanish and English, Maria is also fluent in the Scandinavian languages and German.
…
Her classes have included both public offerings and customized classes delivered for UNM main campus departments such as the Law School, Department of Pediatrics and Carrie Tingley Hospital.
One of our brightest stars, Maria is a delight in the classroom and a very gifted instructor. She has a talent for making everyone feel that they are an important part of the class. Her teaching methods are fun and extremely effective as she brings her students knowledge and skills far exceeding their expectations.
Zac Van Note
One of our most popular and enthusiastic instructors, Zac earned a BFA in Graphic Design from New Mexico State University. He has been an avid computer graphics and design professional since 1987.
In addition to his extensive teaching responsibilities for UNM CE Business and Technology, Zac works as an in-house web/interface designer and as a freelancer, creating commercial websites, print catalogs and brochures. He recently helped design award-winning B2B websites for jewelry and electrical distributors.
Zac’s evaluations of his classes by his students are always excellent. His students express their appreciation for his expertise, accessibility, and patience. Zac makes a difference for his students!
