Production Management for Digital Media
Project Management is fast becoming one of the most important roles in many industries. This course will cover the essential principles and key components to effectively managing people, process and production in digital media. Learn how to properly plan a project, assign resources, create a budget and build and maintain a project schedule upon examining real-world case studies. While this course is designed as an introduction to project management in digital media, students already having a basic understanding of project management will also benefit from the real-world case studies and hands-on nature of the course assignments. Equipment and materials cost about $25. A materials list will be available the first day of class. Prerequisite: None.

About the Instructor Tyler Lee has more than a decade of experience in online advertising and interactive production. He had worked as a designer, developer, art director, and web producer prior to managing medium to large-scale production teams and processes in the entertainment industry. Lee is currently Executive Director of Production for Sony Pictures Imageworks Interactive in Albuquerque. Prior to initiating its web production efforts in New Mexico in January 2009, Lee was Director of Web Production for the company's headquarters in Culver City, California. Before joining Imageworks Interactive, Lee had helped build online brands and execute marketing strategies for entertainment companies like Walt Disney Pictures, Universal Pictures, Focus Features, Paramount Pictures, Activision, Sundance Institute and HBO

About the Instructor Barak Naggan is a professional adventure video and stills photographer, cinematographer and owner of a local multimedia production company who travels the world doing what he loves to do. He has documented trips for Israeli television and magazines. He was the primary videographer for an Israeli aerial photography company. Barak is one of the first to complete the training with Apple Computers to become an Apple Certified Trainer in New Mexico, and the scope of his expertise and professional experience are quite an asset for Continuing Education at UNM.

Festival of the Cranes
This will be the 22nd Annual Festival of the Cranes at Bosque del Apache near Socorro. This is the largest event held in Socorro County each year, and attending will enable us to watch the cranes and other birds with expert, Steve Cox. We’ll take in the Holiday Festival of the Cranes Crafts Show (located inside a historical 19th century opera house in Socorro) on the way to the Bosque, so come prepared to do some holiday shopping. Fee includes a boxed lunch, tour guide, and transportation.
