Q. How much is membership and for how long will it be active? A. Membership for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UNM Continuing Education (OLLI) is $40 a year. The membership year extends from January 1 through December 31 of each year. You must be a member to register for classes and you may join anytime during the year. If you register for membership June 1st or later, your membership fee is $20 for the remaining months of that year. Call (505) 277-0077 Ext.1 to enroll. Q. What is the price to attend the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute courses? A. The tuition fees will vary by course. Every effort will be made to keep the participant costs as low as possible. These course fees will help cover costs such as staff support, utilities, various copying costs, audio/visual equipment, some supplies, and other miscellaneous costs associated with OLLI courses. Q. How many courses may I take? You may take as many courses as your schedule permits. Our program will offer lectures, short courses and longer courses and trips. Our fall and spring semesters are 14 weeks long and our summer semester is 8 weeks. Please note that some courses may have an additional materials fee (see an Osher brochure for details). A. The majority of classes will be held at our Continuing Education Conference Center, either in the south building or the north building. Parking is free of charge at our facility. Q. May I invite a friend to sit in on a class? A. If your friend wants to attend a class he/she is expected to register for the class by going through the established procedures. Q. Is there a specific age required for membership? A. These programs are scheduled for adults 50 and above, but due to the fact that all classes are taught before 5pm, most members are retirees. Q. Can I get a refund if I decide to withdraw from my classes? A. Your tuition, minus a $15 cancellation fee per OLLI course, will be refunded if a written request is delivered or faxed to 505-277-1990, or mailed and received three business days prior to the first scheduled class. This policy applies to all registrations, whatever method of payment. Phone requests will not be accepted. If OLLI cancels a course you will receive a full refund.
