Life is a dance
Jeannie & Reggie Fox
Dance instructors
Jeannie was “ready to move” when she met Reggie taking lessons at the same dance studio a few years ago. The two clicked, enjoyed being dance partners, eventually married, and have been dancing ever since.

They have experimented with various genres over the years, including Country-Western. Jeannie and Reggie made dancing their “thing,” and even tried entering competitions for a few years to take it further. They found out they would rather just have fun with it and help introduce it to others. They fell in love while dancing, and they say that it’s really a joy to include others in the fun and excitement that dancing brings.
After the Foxes taught a few classes around town, they realized how much they love teaching, too. “We love to share our love for dance. We start seeing people out and about dancing after they’ve taken a class with us, doing the things we taught them, and it just feels great.” After over 10 years of teaching dance classes with Continuing Education, their current classes include Latin Social Dancing, Salsa Plus, and Swing.

All types, shapes, and sizes of people take dance classes with Reggie & Jeannie. The entire class starts off lined up together to practice the steps, so they all get to move at once. People’s inhibitions and any embarrassment they feel naturally dissipates once they get moving. As they start to dance, they begin to smile, loosen up, and even share a laugh or two.

“Dance brings all kinds of people, feelings and emotions together, but it is very simple at the same time,” says Reggie.
They say of their classes, “Dancing can be therapeutic or romantic. It’s not just the communication of movement, it’s the transfer of an emotion brought on by the music. Each type of Latin music has its own emotion and a personality. We expose our students to as many of the different types of Latin music as possible, so they can just interpret these different personalities in their own dancing, without having to think about it.”

Jeannie and Reggie’s goal is to share the freedom they have found in dancing. Their classes help people get comfortable with the idea of dancing. Many students have wanted to be able to enjoy dancing for years and are highly motivated. The classes take away the intimidation some feel with dancing in public. Once a student takes a class with Reggie and Jeannie, they are ready to just have fun and are confident to dance at any opportunity. This is very freeing.
There is more to this sense of freedom. When students are comfortable with the music and the movements, and its emotional language is second nature, feelings are expressed naturally in the dance, and people feel very liberated and energized, as though they are more “themselves.”
“We get really diverse groups in our classes,” say the Foxes. “The one common factor is that they all want to be there. That’s a really great learning environment. The best learning situation of all is when everyone is having fun with the class. We keep it light and fun for our students. ”
The Fox’s current classes may include:
