“Why Design and Advertising Are Not Mutually Exclusive in Successful Branding”
True communicating is an art that can be expressed through design. Subtle but powerful messages can be portrayed in advertising by using graphic design and branding to help communicate the company or organization’s unique qualities. In this sense, design and advertising are not mutually exclusive in successful branding. Using the logo as part of a consistent message has often been overlooked by less successful advertisers. Bart Cleveland will discuss what is important in successful branding and show examples of major campaigns that demonstrate what is important from an advertising standpoint.

Bart is Creative Director and a partner of McKee Wallwork Cleveland. His work for clients such Coca-Cola, CNN, the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, and Dow has appeared in markets across the globe. His work has received awards from the industry’s most prestigious shows including The One Show, CA, D&AD, and Clios. Bart also has been published in some of the industry’s most regarded creative publications, including Communication Arts, Creativity, and One, A magazine. He currently writes a small agency blog for Advertising Age. He sits on the executive Board of Directors of the New Mexico Advertising Federation and the advisory board for the Creative Circus Advertising School in Atlanta, GA.
